Our Story

She Built This City was born from a bold idea: that women, girls, and underrepresented communities deserve real access to high-paying, high-demand careers in the skilled trades. That idea was first ignited by, Demi Knight Clark, who challenged the status quo and pushed the conversation forward around women in the trades.

Today, that vision has been actively built, expanded, and carried forward by the leadership of LaToya Faustin, Chief Executive Officer, and the She Built This City team. Under this leadership, She Built This City has grown into a workforce development organization delivering hands-on training, job placement pathways, and barrier-breaking support for women, youth, and marginalized communities across our region.

This is our work now: not just talking about equity in the trades, but creating it.
